Download: Scaling Registered Apprenticeship Programs through Improved Technology Infrastructure

How could we not celebrate National Apprenticeships Week 2024, the 10-year anniversary of the program? You know we will be and you can see what we have in store ourselves.

But this article is your update on what’s going on at the Federal level with Apprenticeship.gov.

As the site explains, this year celebrates “10 Years of Engagement, Expansion, and Innovation” and there 2,200+ events in all 50 states.

In case you missed the public goals for this year, you can find a recap here.

And if you were wondering what last year was all about, here’s our National Apprenticeship Week 2023 recap.

National Apprenticeship Week 2024 Daily Themes

As in years past, national apprenticeship week has a theme for reach day of the week. This year’s daily themes are:

    • Monday: Youth and Young Adult Apprenticeship Day
    • Tuesday: Registered Apprenticeship in New and Emerging Industries Around the Globe
    • Wednesday: Expanding Registered Apprenticeship to Underserved Populations
    • Thursday: Women in Apprenticeship
    • Friday: Federal Apprenticeship and Veterans in Apprenticeship

And of course, you know how we excited we were to find out how aligned we are with the Federal programs.

On the “Youth & Young Adult…” point, we added pre-apprenticeship support and are part of programs bringing CS & IT curriculum development to high schools across the country.

On apprenticeships in new and emerging industries, we’ve helped tech-forward solar apprenticeship, welding apprenticeship, & other programs integrate VR & AR while at the same time, helping existing types of businesses who can now leverage programs to fill their talent gaps like the upholstery apprenticeship launched by Repinned Luxury Upholstery in Iowa.

You know we’re all about serving underserved populations. Our own Carlos Vazquez shares his story and recent leadership team addition Tony Allen is all about it as well.

We love to see women in apprenticeships get its own day. We covered that back in June!

And we continue to be amazed at the amount of Federal support that has been shared this year.

    National Apprenticeship Week Historical Accomplishments

This year, the site has a prominent link to what it calls the “National Apprenticeship Week Fact Sheet,” and it’s a lovely humble brag. We love to share these types of statistics and always encourage our readers to amplify this type of information across their social media, newsletters, and more.

Highlights of the 10-year program include:

    • 9960 events celebrating apprenticeships held
    • 1,400,000 attendees
    • Over 1,800 proclamations

    Why Participate?

If you’re reading this in time, we hope you can join us in-person or as a guest at one of our digital events.

Even if you can’t make this year, consider participating next year.

NAW stresses the reasons to participate:

    • Employers, unions, educators, and other Registered Apprenticeship sponsors can showcase their programs, facilities, and achievements.
    • Apprentices can share how their experiences changed their lives.
    • The public can learn more about the programs and specifically how they can increase diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in the workplace.
