As you’re probably aware, startups are near and dear to Founder Carlos Vazquez’s heart. His first education space company, Miami EdTech, has provided a local incubator with graduates including Kiddie Kredit.
Of course, part of the reason GoSprout has been able to expand so quickly comes from that experience, but the team wants to learn even more and faster.
With that in mind, GoSprout is proud to announce our acceptance into TechStars Atlanta Powered by J.P. Morgan.
For those not familiar with accelerator programs, TechStars and Y-Combinator are probably the most successful around. TechStars uses a distributed model, with each location having a different them.
The 2024 Atlanta Theme
TechStars describes this particular cohort as follows:
“Designed to provide equitable access to funding and support for Black, Hispanic and Latino, Indigenous American and Pacific Islander entrepreneurs who are building the future of Commerce Technology, Consumer Brands and Platforms, and the Creator Economy…Through game-changing investment community partnerships, together we will take steps towards dismantling institutional, structural, and systematic barriers that often limit opportunities.”
And what a great place for this mission, with all the civil rights history that Atlanta holds.
The Program
During the fall, we’ll attend in-person events in Atlanta for week at the beginning and during demo day in December. In between, we’ll be working with the mentors and the rest of the cohort to make our apprenticeship management software even more powerful for our apprenticeship sponsors, employers, rti-provider schools and of course, the apprentices, who might join TechStars themselves someday.
TechStars is known for helping young technology companies develop a network. J.P. Morgan is backing this particular cohort, so they’ll be heavily involved but TechStars also maintains a members only community where past graduates can provide mentorship as well.
Our Goals
First of all, getting the word out…faster!
If you’ve read our blog or newsletter, you know that registered apprenticeships are amazing but in relative terms, hardly anybody knows about them.
We’re actually working on a new initiative to make it easier than ever to launch a computer science apprenticeship, so why shouldn’t most TechStars companies have them?
The beauty of TechStars is it started back in 2006 in Boulder, Colorado, and programs have since been held in many major US cities as well as abroad.
Second, learning a lot quickly. We’re going to sponge up as much great information as we can about building a platform that our clients love.
Third, we’re going to pay it forward. We’ve had the benefit of all kinds of help along the way and look forward to sharing our knowledge with fellow tech entrepreneurs.
What’s Next?
Kick-off week starts September 9th in Atlanta. We’ll be on-site for the whole week.
Will you be there? We’d love to meet you.
Once the program starts, be on the lookout for even more great ideas to make their way into GoSprout.
Stay tuned!
