Our Founder, Carlos Vazquez, couldn’t have said it better…this podcast is about Registered Apprenticeships and any program that involves “Earning and learning while doing.”
Did you already know GoSprout now has a studio? Episode 1 was filmed there and yes, that is an arcade version of NBA Jam in the background…but only guests to get play (against Carlos).
Episode 1 Guest: NBA Great Tony Allen
In case you missed, NBA great Tony Allen is now part of our team.
Known as “The Grindfather,” Tony brings that same work ethic to his post-NBA work and he’s excited to help spread the work-based learning gospel and share his insights with our team.
If you missed it, here’s his interview from when he joined the team.
Episode 1 Topics: Apprenticeships, Mentorship, & Underserved Communities
Carlos and Tony share similar childhood backgrounds (South Bronx, Southside of Chicago) and what they’d like to see be different for youth that are in similar communities across the country.
Tony also touches on how his basketball experience helps him open conversations with young people and then steer them to resources that will make serious careers possible for them further down the line.
But enough spoilers, here’s episode 1:
