In a future of work shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), centuries-old approaches to job training still play a critical role in preparing the workforce. Apprenticeship models offer a lot of potential, not only to address workforce skills gaps, but to reimagine “learning-based work” for both people early in their career and people looking to learn new skills.
One organization using apprenticeships to train the future tech workforce is Miami EdTech, which runs two Registered Apprenticeship programs in artificial intelligence and user experience and interface design. This month’s fireside chat, during the 10th annual National Apprenticeship Week, November 17-23, features a conversation with Carlos Vazquez, the president and CEO of Miami EdTech; Tatenda Mahaka, a program manager at Miami EdTech; and a current apprentice in the AI track. Moderated by Krysti Specht, a director in JFF’s Center for Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning, we’ll dive into Miami EdTech’s insights from the past year and discuss the role of apprenticeships in an AI-augmented world of work.
